Greetings Wagait Beach residents and friends.

Hopefully you are all now all aware of the public meeting set for 9 September at 7pm. Council is working hard to obtain community feedback in regard to the questions of amalgamation and possible expansion. Please let us know your feelings so that we can make an informed decision in the best interests of our community! You can find an outline survey on our website and hard copies are also available at the Council office or the Wagait Supermarket.

More exciting news is that our new Aussie rules and soccer goal posts have arrived and once proper plans and applications are finalised they will go up at the Sportsground. Further improvements in the sports area are also on the way since we have received the grant from the NT Government.

Other grants have been received and plans have been lodged for a new generator at the Council office and satellite phones for emergency services and the firies. This will enable us to be more efficient with the coming cyclone season.

Further improvements at the Memorial Garden area are also on the way.

The CEO has also been talking with the Weeds Management Department in Darwin. As a result poison and spray equipment will be on loan to the Council to distribute to ratepayers for control of Gamba grass. They will be available from October 2014 and you will be advised by council notices.

We have also been advised that the car park will be completed by the end of September. What a relief for all!!!!

Your new Councillor, Ally is settling in well and she was joined by all other Councillors who made themselves available for a training session run by the CEO of LGANT on Saturday 16/8/14.

Yours in Community.
