2016 National Walk Safely to School
On Friday 20 May 2016 45 children from Wagait Beach participated in the National Walk to School program. The local school bus dropped the children 1km short of the ferry in the early hours of the morning. Children walked the last 1km to the jetty and were welcomed to a healthy breakfast on the Mandorah Jetty overlooking the Darwin city views across the Harbour.
A big thank you to Wagait Beach Supermarket for donating all the food for this activity and to the endless volunteer parents who helped with the supervision and setup for this activity.
Walk to School – About 40 children along with some parents attended this event. A healthy breakfast consisting of fruit, cereal and juice was kindly donated by our local supermarket, so we thank Chris and Sue Chaplin for their kind donation. The early morning start at 7am had the children walk along Wagait Tower Road to the Jetty Boat Ramp.
